John, again this was a great show. Cliffy is crazy fun, but I liked hearing about the deeper stuff too. Cool.

I especially liked the parts about language and, er, Cliffy talking in a British accent, not just because I’m British, but because I like languages. I always think English must be difficult to learn properly, because it’s such a mishmash of languages, it hardly ever makes any sense, and you have all these different accents.

I was thinking with your Texas and Taxes – much easier to tell the difference in a British accent. I go to the US sometimes, and can’t understand people speaking my own language!

Anyway, I admire anyone who can speak a second language, but especially when it is so different from someone’s native language.

I understand Cliffy grew up in Hong Kong, which would have had the English influence. I understand a few words of Cantonese, because I like whacky Wong Kar Wai films and pick stuff up from there. If I learned Cantonese, I could turn the subtitles off. But it’s so difficult! I also have lots of Korean friends, but that seems even harder. One day I’ll try learning something properly. 😀

In the meantime, both of you speak great English in my opinion and any time you want to slip into a British accent, just do it.
