    I like the message that the Bishop is delivering here in this segment and it is a message that, in my experience, I have consistently seen throughout the Catholic church in the US and that is the promotion of reflection on one’s faith and an embracing of intellecualism. Throughout history the Catholic church has a history of embracing intellecutual persuits, from Thomas Aquinas’ studies in philosophy to Mendel’s studies in genetics one of the things that I do like about the church is the recognition and the persuit of secular knowledge.

    I agree. And some of those right-wing atmosphere are caused by current leaders, and opportunistic homophobes.
    That is also part of the reason why I am not good at what the scripture says. I usually go home with the message, and not the passage. To me the message and passage difference is the key to the difference in the evangelical Christians.
