You’re silly. 🙂 You don’t look like a pop star? What does an American Idol look like? In my opinion, none of the winners so far really fit any type of mold, which is probably the only good thing I can say about the show.
As a singer myself, I’m totally with you on the entire auditioning process and what the results ultimately mean. Also like you, I’ve been performing for so long I find I don’t need someone else’s affirmation that I have talent, or that their opinion makes me re-evaluae that talent. (In my early days, sure… but now not so much!)
If I do audition for something that I feel I’m right for – and really, why would I audition in the first place if I didn’t think that? – and I don’t get cast, I think I’m realistic enough to know there are other factors involved beyond my control (they wanted to cast a friend, I’m not the age or look they were going for, etc.). Since I’m also a director, I’ve been on the other side of the table, so I’m well aware of what transpires in the complete casting process.
I’m blushing! I hope you have a wonderful time in Malaysia. Btw, after we talked I tried to edit my rss feed again using your instructions. Guess what? I checked this afternoon and I’m actually now listed as a “personal journal”. How cool is that? Can’t wait to hear from you and your Malaysian friends. Be well
