Show #225 | Duration: 39:13 | 18.2 MB | Mono |

This is the first part of a two-part interview with Tristin from Jaded City.
Of all the stories I heard over the last two and a half years on Ongline, this has to be one of the most powerful and inspiring stories.
If you know Tristin only as the host of Jaded City podcast, then you’ll have a lot to learn about him.
Please come back next week and learn more about why he wants to do the AIDS Ride.

Please help Tristin achieve his AIDS Ride goal:
Donate Now to Tristin’s goal of $3500 for AIDS/HIV awareness and more.

Great show, John! I’ve said it before but I’ll say it again, you are the Dr. Phill of podcasting. You certainly got Tristin to open up and tell us so much about himself. I am really looking forward to the second part. Tristin has lived a very interesting life so far. I look forward to the New York stories.

  2. Hadi

And I thought I had a hard life John.

OK – maybe some of us are just spoilt but it takes courage to live through what Tristin had to go through…I wouldn’t have survived, I doubt at his age. It is good that he is still positive about his life in general.

New York will be another hard ride but it will be interesting to find out more.

Archerr and Hadi, thaks for the comments.

I can’t take credit for what Tristin’s sharing. I will however take credit for inviting thim to chat with me. I have been thinking about questions to ask him for the last few weeks. I can tell there is something worth sharing from Tristin on a personal level. I really appreciate how Tristin’s willingness to share with us his personal stories. Definitely one of the best personal stories on Ongline.

I know some of you donated to Tristin’s AIDS Ride after listening to the show, thank you for doing that, and I know Tristin appreciates that too.

If this show doesn’t move you, I’m sure the next one would put everything into perspective even more.

John, you did a really good show here, facilitating Tristin to powerfully share his story. I found it a reflective experience, and I know it invited me to question some of my own perceptions and perspectives. How do you prepare the questions you use and set the tone?

Looking forward to the next episode to see how things resolve.

  6. John Ong

    Thanks Jeffrey.
The questions I asked are mostly formed in my head before I even invited Tristin. I get naturally curious about someone. Those questions are mostly what I want to know, being a nosey bitch, to quote Tristin. 😀
I also read some of his writing on his website. Some questions just came up during the chat.
I didn’t even have any written down. All credit, well, at least most, goes back to Tristin for being so open about his experience.

It was nice listening to Tristin’s life story. I remember reading his “about me” page on intristin.net some time ago. So I’m a little ahead of some here who are hearing his story for the first time. The second half of this story is a very compelling one and I’d urge everyone to listen to part two. John, you are so sweet and perhaps the best person to deliver this story to the online community. And Tristin I’d like you to know that I stand with you and even though we’ve never met – please consider me your friend. I ‘ve been through some trying times of late with my roommate. And despite it all I haven’t abandoned him and never will. I’d urge eveyone who can contribute to Tristin’s cause please do. After all we will all benefit when we help others. I have to believe that the love will be returned. Love you all.

This was such a great show. While we’ve never physically met, I’ve spoken with Tristan many times in the past, while doing his podcast. But its always just been about business (ie the show). It was refreshing to see him open up and talk about himself and where he comes from.It gives me a better idea of why I love him so much and consider him to be such an outstanding human being.I can’t even imagine ever possessing his strength.

I also want to encourage anyone listening to this or reading to donate to Tristan’s AIDS ride. You don’t have to give much, just give something. If all you can afford is a dollar then by all means give a dollar. Every little bit helps.

Matty, thanks for the comment. I am very lucky that Tristin is so open to sharing his stories. It’s very inspiring to me and for me. I think the second show will convince people even more about supporting his AIDS ride.
