   Cameron and Ang have been together for ten years. It has been a loving, fulfilling relationship for both. Cameron is American and Caucasian. Ang is an immigrant from China. A proposition comes up in their state stating that the only people who will be guaranteed the rights under the Constitution would be Caucasians. The reasoning being that the Constitution was written by Caucasians and therefore was meant solely for Caucasians.

   Cameron tells Ang, “You know how deeply I love you but I will be voting for this proposition because I agree with the concept behind it.”

   Does Cameron really love Ang?

   Should Ang stay with someone who believes they shouldn’t have the same rights because of the color of their skin?

   I would love to hear your thoughts about this scenario, John.

   Thanks Marco. I will spew thoughts like I spew my fat, on the next show. Thanks for you participation.

   Just a note on Whitney’s stance. It may have been mentioned only in our personal exchanges. Whitney does NOT support Prop 8. She mentioned that she doesn’t agree with homosexuality, that doesn’t mean that she’s going to vote for Prop 8. I just want to make it clear. In fact, I know that the thought about her disagreeing with homosexuality may be in the process of changing too.

   I want to keep the conversation going, so I want to make it as fair as possible for all sides. She is not mixing up church and state.

   I commend Whitney for having an open heart and an open mind. I know how difficult that challenge can be. I’m Filipino-American, Catholic and gay. It has been a uphill battle getting to where I am know (a happier place) with the cultural and religious background that I have.

   Marco, I think it’s fair for me to say that, yes, we have some similar background. Both ethnic and religious background. I’ll chat more next week.

   Our economy is based on the use of plastic. If people were not spending “above their means” many businesses would fail. The current climate is a direct result of people no longer being able to spend. You will see (in the not to distant future) many small businesses close their doors. Yes, you are correct. If you can’t afford to pay cash, then you are buying something you likely could do without. However, I could not afford to pay cash for my car or my house. I used credit to finance those things. Granted, I have wanted many material things in the past and I’m now paying for it. I think we’re all guilty of this. My purchases and the purchases of the people of the developed world have resulted in the growth of business and with that growth came the hiring of people. Now businesses are shrinking and so to will the work force. We are seeing that now. Luckily, I am not affected by the bad economy. I still want things. But priority #1 is maintaining a roof over my head and food in my stomach. Slowly I am paying down my debt. But if anyone out there would like to pay it for my that would be okay to. Ha! I’ll talk about this in tomorrow’s podcast if I think about it. I’ve been talking about sex to much and I’m sure its boring my listeners. dah! I think I am ADD to. As for JD’s email to you: Nobody ever describes my podcasts as “touching”. I’m jealous. Zilly was spot on. I was not bickering – Marco was! 😛 Whitney did say she does not agree with you’re being homosexual. That’s cool. There are members of my family who feel the same way. Do I “give a damn” what narrow minded ppl think about this? Only to the extent that it affects my civil rights as a member of the gay community. There are some peoples minds we will never be able to change. They way of thinking about the gay community is rooted in their upbringing. They hear the preacher and the pope condemning the gay community. They’ve heard this all of their life. They hear the anti-gay Christian teachings and they accept this as fact never considering the errancy of this purported “word of God”. Fact: The bible was written by men. Men are fallible. Do you really believe all the stories of the bible? If so, what was the point or purpose of the flood of the old testament? If it was to rid the world of evil it failed. If it was to punish the wicked it failed. There remain wicked people on this earth. Without the bad we would not know good. Without light we know not the dark. Heaven sounds like a boring place to me. Without sadness we would not know unspeakable joy. I am happy to live in a world where not all is right with the world. I do not hate Christians. Many of the sweetest and kindest people I have known are/were Christians. My Mom believed in God and Heaven. Her beliefs gave her comfort. I would never take that away from her or anyone else. However, I take offense when good minded people are trying to save my soul by denying my rights as a citizen of this secular world. I’ve heard it all. I listened to it and I rejected it. I am comfortable with my decision. Am I a happy person? No. But it has nothing to do with not having God in my life. It is way more complicated than that.
