Ongline Podcast

February 23, 2005 marked the last day of the Chinese New Year celebration. My cousin, Catherine (Ah Mei) reminded me of that. I then invited her to join me in my podcast.

Show Notes:

Show #12 | Duration: 37:03 | Size: 20.5 MB

We started wanting to talk about Chap Goh Meh, but ended up just chatting about nothing, like we always do.

Talking about how we use and love Skype!

Hash – United Overseas Bank

For those who heard the Valentine’s Day Podcast, I had a flashback talking about the “hash” sign.
I couldn’t figure out what the bank was that has the four horizontal line with a vertical line over the four vertical lines. Well, I came across the logo tonight when I was reading The Star, and saw the logo. Here it is.

Did you realize I Google the word Yahoo to find out what it stands for? (Bruce pointed that out later)

New Comment Voicemail

Hello everyone. I would like to announce my new number for my comment line.
It’s much easier to remember:

(206) 888 JOHN

I am not expecting those out of the United States to call to this number. But those of you who are in the US, and have any comment you want to leave me without having to do your own recording, just simply call the above number, and the message will be sent ot me.

You can call anytime of the day, the line is open 24/7.

Thanks for your support.

Chinese New Year Virtual Reunion 2005 (Ongline Podcast #10)

Gong Xi Fa Cai!

Even thought we don’t get to be physically together for our Chinese New Year reunion dinner, we sort of made it happen by the wonder of technology. We used Skype’s Conference Call feature to connect from my home to my brother’s (in the same town), my sister’s family (in Penang), and my parents’ (in Penang – different house).

We got carried away in our conference call chat that the show is way longer than my 30 min. format. Therefore the file is about 35MB. If you want a smaller file, I can repost, or send you a special link with another file that has a lower quality. Email me if you’re interested. I’ll send you the link.

Love Skype!

Stay tuned for a special

Hello all. As of today, my little Chinese New Year greetings and my podcast promo was played on Adam Curry’s Daily Source Code for February 6th 2005. I don’t expect a great increase in traffic, but that’s not my main aim. I just want those who’d understand the Malaysian style of language rojak (mixture of languages), to get a chance to hear that on a podcast. Some of my current listeners found that to be very warm and cozy, especially if they’re Malaysian who are now living abroad.

I’m planning to record a special Chinese New Year podcast this evening. I’m hoping to get my parents, my sister, and my brother on the show for a special hi-tech version of reunion.

Please check back on Feb. 9th for the show. Or better yet, get yourself an iPodder Software for your computer platform, and subscribe to my XML feed. You can find my XML feed on the top right corner of my blog. Or type in this:

To all my current subscribers and listerners: Thanks for your continuous support and encouragement.

To you who are here for the first time: Welcome to my blog and podcast. Hope you’ll enjoy it.

Emails and audio comments are always welcome. You’ll find the links on the right side of my blog.

Happy Chinese New Year!

My first show in the studio since I came back from Malaysia. I’m a bit kelam kabut. But, at least I get to thank those I wanted to thank. If I missed your name, I apologize. This show is really a quick recap of what happened in Malaysia, and to thank everyone.

Show Notes:

Show #9 | Duration: 33:11

I said "I beg for your apology", I meant "I beg for your forgiveness". I really was very kelam kabut with the new audio setup.

Ongline Podcast #8 (1/24/2005)

Ongline Podcast

It’s been exactly a month since I traveled home to Malaysia. Now that I’m back again to Kansas City, I’ve been trying to put together a show of all the audio memos and podcast recording pieces I did in Malaysia. Here’s an edited piece of my way home and a get-together with some friends. Thanks to all who are listening to the show here on the web and those who subscribed to it. And definitely thanks to those who so generously entertained me when I was in Malaysia. Take care.

  • Congrats to Kelvin & Jo Suen on your marriage. It was such an honor for me to be a part of your wedding. I’ll treasure that opportunity forever.
  • Kwang Hun, as usual, my best friend and my god-brother, thanks for all the fun and rides you shared. And Fong Ling, thanks for sharing your hubby.
  • Kok Kuan, Hong, Kar Eng: Thanks for the fun karaoke sessions!
  • All my brother’s friends who were in the Special Edition of Podcast.
  • All my cousins! Thanks!
  • Alex from Boleh Rojak Pod. Thanks for the ride and the chat. Very nice to meet a fellow Malaysian podcaster.
  • Friends from primary school and high school both in KL and Penang: Thanks for keeping in touch, and your effort of coming back in touch with me. I truly appreciate your friendships.
  • All of you have made this trip of mine to Malaysia one of the best ones.

Tsunami Relief Funds

Ongline Podcast

Sorry for the rough production of my shows lately. I’m in Penang, and I’m only having a very limited amount of time and internet access. I visit any Hotspot locations every time I can, but I’m hoping to get my parents’ DSL set up this coming Monday.

While waiting for that, I thought I should just post a quick message to everyone listening to the show to please donate generously to the tsunami relief funds. You can do your own research as to which to donate to, or follow the links below.

I felt like I have the obligation to at least spread the word, and pledge for your donations personally since I’m here in Penang, one of the places hit by the tsunami.

Take care and stay safe (and I’m doing just that).

Follow these links to donate for the tsunami victims:
