I’ve only been listening to iTunes podcasts for one week now and have . . . incredibly enough . . . discovered your show, Feast of Fools, Fox and the City, and the fabulous Wanda Wisdom. I think it is great that all these terrific gay podcasts are supporting Victoria Lamar and trying to get her a Mac. Thanks from the heart!
Joe,
It’s really incredible what a small community can get together and do some good. Fausto and Marc are the two who really poured out their heart for V-Mar. It’s very easy to hear the genuine kindness from those two guys. That’s what touching all the listeners. I hope it will touch the others as well. I’m waiting for Fausto to keep me updated with the amount. Once I have the updated I amount, I’ll edit my post again.
And also, thanks for listening to our shows, and give us your support. If you haven’t already done that, you can go over to qPodder.org to socialize with other listeners and podcasters.
Hi John. I thought that was really nice of you to get the word out about V-Mar and her computer fund.
I am a registered nurse here in Los Angeles. I can tell your from my own experience, that spinal meningitis is a very serious illness. Being immunosupressed on top of that only intensifies a very serious condition. I am so glad to here that V-Mar started to listen to her body’s warning signs (intense headache, no appetite and nausea) and got needed medical attention before it was too late. Recovery from this illness is slow due to inflammation in the brain. It takes alot out of a patient both physically and mentally. She is gonna be tired for a while, but I expect she will make a full recovery. Sounds like she learned a good lesson…When you first start to feel symptoms, or you just don’t feel right, go see your doctor EARLY on. This cannont be stressed enough for anyone who is liviing with HIV.
As far as the computer fund, I have been very impressed with the donation campaign. I have donated myself. V-Mar’s story has really touched me. She has reminded me of some past patients I have cared for. She really sounds like such a brave person. I hope that she gets her computer. I believe it will have such a positive effect on her overall health.
Well thank you John for being such a thoughtful and kind person. I have been enjoying your shows, especially when you have Bruce on. He is really funny. My favorite quote..”Why breathe fresh air when you can come to the mall.” or something like that. I cracked up on my subway train when I heard that.
Take care.
