Doing my part in Malaysia

Besides having a lot of fun at the Golden Pig Reunion dinner with my Penang Hokkien Podcast listeners, I also talked about podcasting in general at CG Computers. CG is kind enough to let me use their training facilities to evangalize podcasting.

Today, The Star printed the story. Peggy, the lady boss from CG told me about it first thing in the morning. My plump face is on the first page. I’ll take a picture of the paper later and share it with you. The first thing I checked when I got the newspaper was to see if I am plump. Yes to both pictures. But hey, it’s about podcasting, not fatcasting.

Happy Fat Pig Year

I am taking a podcasting break for a few days. For the last two or three days, I have left my mics and recorder at home, and went out with my old friends and enjoy the time with them.

I have decided to take a break this week and re-experience the Chinese New Year atmopshere, which I have been missing for the last eleven years.

Wish you all a very prosperous and fat new year, the fatter th better. I you’re fatter, I’m less fat. :p

But most of all, thanks for your support, friendship, and love.

Taste of fame?

Is this what fame tastes like?

I went out shopping with my sister at the Gurney Plaza in Penang. We went into a clothing store that my nephews like. It’s called the Extreme. The prominent character of this brand is ALI, or Action Ladfigure Inc. Don’t ask me more. I didn’t get it. I’m too old.

Manek and I

While I was trying out my selections of clothings, a girl knicknamed “Manek” (of course given by my lovely bloated self) approached my sister and asked if I were John Ong. That of course confused my sister as to how she may have known me. She was too young to be my classmate. Then Manek told my sister that she listens to Penang Hokkien Podcast. In fact, her boyfriend who is now in the UK introduced the podcast to her. Small world. Well, Penang is a tiny island.

A little shy that she was, Manek asked another coworker of hers to ask me if it’s okay to take a picture with me. Of course the whore of me tasting the first drop of semi-fame, said yes.

Signing the wall

One thing led to another. I’m signing my name, and of course, advertising my podcast on their wall. Yes, the wall in the store. I hope no one gets fired. The signing of the wall wasn’t even Manek’s idea, it was the lady, who appeared to be the branch owner or manager. So, I think everything should be okay.

Is this a taste of fame? Well, at least for a few minutes. I’m not that naive. But it sure tasted good.

Childhood Nail Clipper

Childhood Nail Clipper

I’m glad you’re able to walk with me down the Memory Lane, Penang style.
This morning, my dad showed me my childhood nail clipper. I remember my mom used to use this exactly clipper to clip my nails. I’d sit next to my mom at the back of the house, sticking my hands outside the house on the steps while my mom clipped my finger and toe nails.

I know it’s kinda silly, but it has brought back a lot of memories.

The weird thing is, it’s made in the USA. 🙂

More pictures and recordings are coming. Please visit the site more frequently than usual.

KLIA Wifi

KLIA wifi

I am now at the Kuala Lumpur International Airport. There’s free wifi. So cool!

Had a very pleasant flight, business class. Uh hmm… well, I got an upgrade from the miles I collected. It was on the top level of a 747. Very nice. And the food was wonderful.

So now. I’m waiting to take the regular old cramped coach class back to Penang. Luckily it is under and hour. I think I stink! Or at least I feel dirty. 😉 Not that dirty.

You may want to check your iTunes or any other podcatcher frequently, I may post more than usual.

Love y’all!

Ongline Widget for your Dashboard

Ongline Widget

NOTE: I just fixed the bad link! Thanks VJ.

A friend of mine, whom I betrayed* (explanation comes if you guys want to know), made me a Dashboard widget for Christmas. It’s very cool. It’s still beta. So, come back for the full release in the future. Of course, if “Dashboard Widgets” mean nothing to you, well, then you probably don’t want it. It’s something for you Mac. If you don’t run OS X Tiger, then you’d have no use for it. But if you do, here it is.

Click on the widget icon on the left to download the zipped widget. Unzip if you have to (sounds naughty, that’s a “heeey” moment at OhMyPod.net, listen to them, and you’ll know why.)

Found It!

If you know me personally or through my podcast and if you are observant, you may realize that I change around my glasses a lot. One of my favorite pairs of glasses got scratched up really badly and so I had to go look for my older pairs to wear.

I had been hunting and hunting for this pair of glasses for two months. This morning when I woke up, the idea of it being dropped under the bed came into my mind. Chai, our boy cat loves to play on my bedside table, and there is a chance that this pair of glasses got knocked down by him. Indeed, it was there. Under the bed, nicely inside its box. So happy. Here I am in my some-what-new pair of spectacles. And of course, it wouldn’t be quite me without all the colors and tinted lenses.

And by the way, why is my face the size of Asia?

Oh, Flash!

PMNet Reunite?

PMNet

Getting to reunite with my old friends. I mean, OLD friends. PMNet is short for Pasar Malam Network. Pasar Malam is Night Market in Malay. This group of friends always meetup for meals and a stroll every Tuesday night at our town’s night market. It’ll be 16 years since the whole group got together. I hope this February, we’ll be able to make it happen.
